This policy covers the RevBot Twitch panel extension — the panel
that shows leaderboards, quotes, insults and the chat command list on the channel it is
installed on.
It does not cover Twitch itself. Twitch decides what it collects from you and what it
passes on; see the
Twitch Privacy Notice
for that.
The short version
- You can use the panel without identifying yourself. Leaderboards, quotes and the insult list all work without it.
- If you choose to share your identity, we use your Twitch user ID and display name to show your position on the leaderboards, to record your votes on insults, and to look up your role (subscriber, VIP, moderator) so the Commands tab can show which commands you can actually run.
- The only thing the panel ever writes about you is an insult vote.
- We don't sell anything, we don't advertise, and we don't track you across sites.
What we collect, and why
Nothing here is collected until you press Sign in with Twitch in the
panel and grant it access to your identity.
Your Twitch user ID and role reach us inside a signed token Twitch issues to the panel.
We verify that signature on every request — we never simply believe what the panel
tells us about who you are.
Your role is not stored
Working out whether you are a subscriber, VIP or moderator means asking Twitch each time.
To avoid asking on every single panel load, the answer is held in memory on the server
for up to 10 minutes and then discarded. It is never written to our
database, and it disappears whenever the server restarts.
What a vote actually looks like
A vote is stored as your Twitch user ID, the ID of the insult, and a timestamp. Your name
is not attached to it. Removing your vote deletes that record.
Where leaderboard data comes from
The leaderboard totals and display names shown in the panel were not
collected by the extension. They come from the RevBot chat bot, which records
channel-point redeems and chat activity on the channel as they happen —
independently of whether you have ever opened the panel. The panel only reads and
displays them.
The one thing that changes when you share your identity is that we can pick your
row out of that existing data and show it to you as “Your rank”.
What we do not collect
- We do not read your chat messages through the panel.
- We do not receive your email address, your real name, your password, or any payment details. Twitch never gives these to an extension.
- No advertising, no analytics, no third-party trackers, no cookies are used by the panel.
- We do not track you across other websites or channels.
If you never share your identity, Twitch gives the panel only an anonymous, rotating ID
that cannot be traced back to your account. We do not store it or use it for anything.
Where your data is held, and who can see it
Data is stored in Amazon Web Services (Amazon DynamoDB) in the
Asia Pacific (Sydney) region. AWS hosts it on our behalf and does not use
it for its own purposes.
We also call the Twitch API to look up your display name and role. That
means Twitch knows we asked, which is unavoidable — it is the only source of that
information.
Nobody else receives your data. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with advertisers
or analytics providers.
Your display name and leaderboard position are visible to anyone viewing the
channel, which is the purpose of a leaderboard. Your individual votes on insults
are not shown publicly next to your name, though vote totals are visible to
everyone, and the broadcaster and moderators can see who voted for what through the bot's
admin tools.
How long we keep it
Leaderboard totals and your profile are kept for as long as the bot runs on the channel,
because they are a running historical record — some of it goes back years. Votes are
kept until you remove them or until the insult is deleted.
There is no automatic expiry. If you want your data removed, DM Reviniere on Twitch with
the request and he will process it. Doing this via DM is required to prove you have access
to the account you are requesting info to be deleted for.
Your choices
- Don't share your identity. The panel works without it. You lose voting, your personal rank, and role-accurate command highlighting — nothing else.
- Withdraw your consent at any time. Twitch controls this, not us: go to Settings → Connections → Other Connections on Twitch and disconnect the extension. We stop receiving your identity immediately.
- Remove a vote by tapping it again in the panel. The record is deleted, not just hidden.
- Ask us to delete your data. Contact us and we will remove your stored profile, counters and votes. Be aware this also removes your leaderboard history, and it cannot be undone.
- Ask what we hold about you. We will tell you.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your personal data —
for example to access, correct, or export it. We will honour those requests regardless of
where you are.
Children
This extension is for use on Twitch, and Twitch requires its users to be at least 13 years
old. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or what we do with it, the
“Last updated” date at the top will change. Continuing to use the panel after
that means the updated policy applies.
